My name is Jenifer -Jenny to friends and family. I live in Southeast Portland in the very hip Hawthorne district. I've been the Registrar at Pacific Northwest College of Art
for the past 15 hears. It's my alma mater - I got a BFA degree in Sculpture there ages ago. Before that I worked as a newspaper librarian at The Oregonian. As a child I lived on my grandparents gold mining claim o the Little Applegate River in
Southern Oregon. It was a real homestead life with woodstove, outhouse, and no electricity. After we moved to Portland, I spent part of my summers there. We also explored Oregon and Washington on camping trips, and helped excavate archaeological sites
under the direction of my Dad's friend Emory Strong, whose collection is now in the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center. My Mother's family had come West in a wagon train in 1853, eventually settling in Clark County, Washington. I was raised on stories
about the pioneers. For hobbies, I read mostly history, knit, camp, and draw with watercolors or colored pencil. I joined OTT because I like history, crafts, and camping, and I can get them all plus some lovely new friends. |
