OREGON TRAIL TRAVELERS

Participating Member

Dale & Diana

Dale is a charter member who was at the first meeting. He and Jim have worked together in their "real" lives as Buyers. Dale is known for his artistic talents and his hand work can be seen in the company mercantile.
Dale has drawn a map of the Oregon Trail and tells of the Overlanders as they journeyed to the Willamette Valley. Dale displays and demonstrates his examples of pen and ink sketches of the trail, block cuts for printing, bronze casting and stone carving. His demonstrations are enjoyed by both the public and members alike.

Diana demonstrates teh unique art of lace making using a technique called "bobbin or pillow lace." Lace pieces she has made include Belgian Bloemwurk, English Torchon, Bedforshire, Buckspoint, Russian and Czechoslovakian tape lace. Various lace "pillows", the working surface in lace making, are also exhibited in different stages of completion.
Diana enjoys displaying a variety of bobbins and antique lace pieces as well. Her lace bookmarks, which are sold in the company mercantile, take about 8 hours each to complete.
Diana and her twin sister Donna, are both proficient in lace making. They have attended several lace workshops and recently attended an international lace convention, learning new lace techniques with lace makers from around the world. Although living in Southern California, Donna has participated in a few of our events demonstrating one of her crafts - oil painting.
In addition to participation in the Oregon Trail Travelers, Diana works for a research and development firm. She enjoys various outdoor activities with her family. Dale and Diana live in Richland, Washington and have been married for almost 30 years.
